How to detect biases?
Speaker's choice of words, selection of facts or examples, or tone of voice
eveals his or her biases.
Ask yourself the following questions to help you identify biases:
1. Does the speaker use overly positive or overly negative language
about the subject?
2. Does the speaker use emotionally charged language about the
subject?
3. Does the speaker use vague or generalized language about the
subject?
4. Does the speaker omit any important facts?
5. Does the speaker add information and evidence that seems
unnecessary just to bolster his or her points?
