If you are given a chance to genetically modify an organism/trait in a fruit or a crop, what would it be? (must be new or never introduced before)

GM is a technology that involves inserting DNA into the genome of an organism. To produce a GM plant, new DNA is transferred into plant cells. Usually, the cells are then grown in tissue culture where they develop into plants. The seeds produced by these plants will inherit the new DNA.

If I were given a chance to genetically modify a trait in a crop, I will choose to modify our national tree, Coconut Tree. Recently, some findings stated that the oil from the coconut tree can reduce and ease symptoms of patients who has the virus Covid-19. If the findings continue to be positive and prove to people that it can be a change to these patients then modifying coconut trees are huge. For the coconut oil to be more effective, we’ll try to develop modified coconuts that has more lauric acid than before. Lauric acids is used for medicine and is found in coconut oils. It is used in treating viral infections therefore, having this modified coconuts can help the society.
