When you visit a website the owner can easily see how long you spend which pages you visit and which area you are using the web from. A website owner cannot see any other activity that you make unless he/she owns other sites you visit!
This helps website owners to understand their traffic flow. Without this things would not work because web owners would have no data which is needed for traffic trend understanding
