Sad because of this pandemic many people dying of the COVID and people are sick and i hope the doctors and nurse will do their best to keep them alive and go back to a normal life.

I would intruduce them by curiosity because a child can't really learn long term unless its in their interest. now, i would teach them about the current issues we face today like climate change and raise awareness about the issue, because their actions will determine the outcomes of the future world.
