Around 90% of Filipinos are Christian. Most are overwhelmingly Catholic, with a few Protestant sects, including native and foreign ones. Filipinos are very religious. But it’s not the same as in your average American Bible Belter. Like most majority Catholic countries, it’s a lot more conservative in some aspects, and a lot more liberal in other aspects as you will find out in the next entries. However, the Catholic Church and some religious minorities also has enormous sway over the government. Despite the constitutional separation of the church and the state, they make no secret of attempting to influence public policies.
