If I were to sing in front of a huge crowd of people, and was not able to hit the high notes, I'll take a deep breath. Ignore the laughter and hold my head high. Put a confident smile on my lips. I'll continue singing, pretending it didn't happen. Just put on a brave smile, and get through it.
