Santol is a native of Indo-China and western Malaysia and is now found naturalized or cultivated throughout tropical Asia, particularly in Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam. It has also been introduced in other tropical countries. It is cultivated in the Mascarenes, the New World tropics and under glass in Europe.
