HALFWAY HOUSE AND LIVELIHOOD TRAINING CENTER
A three-storey Halfway House and Livelihood Training Center (HHLTC) was constructed to serve as a temporary shelter for the clients of the Parole and Probation Administration (PPA) who have no home or immediate family to return to after termination of their probation and parole period.
The two buildings located in Brgy. Lanipe, Nueva Valencia in Guimaras Province was built on a 2.5 hectares land donated by private individuals namely the late Mr. Gregorio Garmay, Dr. Domingo Diel, Jr., and Mrs. Divina Granada-Inocito, all from the same province.
Constructed and funded through the Special Infrastructure Projects of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), the HHLTC was inaugurated last February 6, 2019. Assistant Secretary Cheryl L. Daytec-Yangot represented the Justice Secretary as guest of honor in the said event. Also present during the inauguration were Guimaras Governor Samuel T. Gumarin, Assistant Secretary for Special Project of the Office of the President Aurora C. Ignacio, representatives from DPWH, and officials and employees of PPA-Region VI.
Administrator Manuel G. Co accepted the symbolic key from DPWH during the turnover ceremony of the HHLTC. In his acceptance speech, Administrator Co recalled the effort exerted by the PPA to materialize the said project. He also emphasized the importance of building such kind of facility for the rehabilitation needs of the agency clients.
The facility will be managed by the personnel of PPA-Region VI headed by Regional Director Charito A. Zamora.
An estimated 3,000 clients from within Western Visayas region will benefit in the project annually.
