1. The setting of the story is placed after she got out of the parlor and I presumed she went home after since from the passage she proceeded to show her problem to her sister.
2. The characters of the story includes the protagonist who is a young lady preparing for her bestfriend's wedding. The sister who tried to fix her hair but had given up at the end. Also her other sister who transformed her hair and gave her a piece of advice.
3. The emotion present on the first paragraph was in horror and panicky feeling due to the protagonist realizing her problem which is her hairdo.
4. a. The purpose of this passage was to portray that her sister tried to fix the problem by examining her hair, applied various ways to fix it but resulted to no avail and her sister just giving up on her. Also this passage was used in comparison to a chess game in order to make the reader's give an idea on about how meticulous the sister handled the problem just like in a chess game.
b. For this passage the purpose was to show the reader's that the protagonist had a mental breakdown about her problem. This may have been triggered due to her sister who tried to fix the problem but told her that it was hopeless which resulted to her in thinking of not showing up to her bestfriend's wedding just because of it.
5. The lesson I have learned from this story was that no matter how small or how big a problem is there is a solution to it. In the case of the story, the solution was portrayed by the other sister who was able to turn the problem around and gave her advice that her worrying for her hair was much less important than her deciding to not attend and support her bestfriend's wedding just because of a bad hair day. There are more important aspects of life that we should prioritize and fussed about rather than these small superficial things that in reality nobody actually pays attention too.
