As a Filipino, I have realized that our values here in the Philippines is as fruitful as any other values here in Asia.

Explanation:

When I was a child, respect to the elderly is a must in every family. It doesn’t matter whether the elderly is our relative or not, we show respect to every old people in our country. Whenever we see and encounter with the elderly we kiss the back of their hands or put it on our forehead as a sign of deep and sincere respect for them. We always use ‘po’ and ‘opo’ when we talk to them to show respect in our conversations. We listen to their wonderful stories and try to do or imitate whatever they have done in their stories. We always follow whatever they told us to do because we know that they only want whats best for us.

Filipinos are also hospitable. Our home always welcomes visitors with a warm heart. We are used to entertain visitors, we prepare foods and drinks for them, and we put out our best pillows and blankets for them to use it so that they will feel at home and comfortable. Everyone is welcome in every Filipino home.

Our values here in the Philippines is influenced by the teaching in the Bible. It is patterned in the commandments and laws of God. We really obey it and try put it into action since most of the population in our country believe in Christianity. We believe that when its God who is at the center of every family, peace and respect is evident inside the house. Godly values is part of our culture. We thank God for everything that He has done for us.
