Earthquake Experience Narrative 1. 1550 "My mom and I had fallen asleep, watching TV when we felt a tremendous jolt. Things were flying, and we ran to get undercover. There was a huge crash, and part of the ceiling fell until our entire ceiling collapsed." 2. 1551 "Our family was out of the country when the earthquake hit the city. Our neighbor says our house has sustained a lot of damage. It fell off the foundation. I guess we shouldn't have put off the retrofitting." 3. 1552 "I am a doctor at a local hospital. I was attending to my patient Mr. Reyes when I first felt the earthquake. He woke up and we watched a glass of juice on his bedside table slide back and forth. I caught it before it tipped." 4. 1554 "I was sleeping over at my friend's house when the earthquake came. It was kind of scary because all of the furniture was moving around, and her TV fell on the floor and broke." 5. 1555 Renee was working on her computer when the earthquake struck. Her desk chair was rolling back and forth across the floor, and all the pictures fell off the bookshelves. 55
