Make A Stand...
(An excerpt from Randell Tiongson article on financial literacy 2019)
Most people think they know what money is, but the truth is they
don't. To most people, money is the paper that is in their wallet or the
number in their bank account. While we call that money, it is actually not
the truth about what real money is. Real money is invisible and cannot be
seen. What we call money is a representative of money.
Money is defined as a commodity accepted by general consent as a
medium of economic exchange. It is the medium in which prices and values
are expressed; as currency, it circulates anonymously from person to
person and country to country, thus facilitating trade, and it is the
principal measure of wealth.
Activity 2. Let Me Know Your Stand
Talk about money. What's your stand about it? Do you agree with the
author? You and your peers may have different stands or opinions. Write
your stand about money inside the box. Your stand should be expressed in
four or more sentences.
