1. As you rise from low light intensity to higher light intensity, the rate of photosynthesis will increase because there is more light available to drive the reactions of photosynthesis.
2. If the concentration of carbon dioxide is increased, the rate of photosynthesis will therefore increase.
3. At low temperatures, the rate of photosynthesis is limited by the number of molecular collisions between enzymes and substrates. At high temperatures, enzymes are denatured.
4. Water affects the rate of photosynthesis indirectly. Water stress causes the stomata to close, thus reducing the availability of CO2. It also causes the leaves to wilt, reducing the surface area for photosynthesis.
