The natives signed a treaty which enabled the colonizers to exploit the colony's natural resources
Natives are naive so they're easy to manipulate
And because we're occupied and there's this thing called "cultural assimilation" where natives are forced to become like their colonizers (either religion, appearance, culture, etc.), erasing them their national identity. Due to this, our past will fade.
