A negative income tax system. Without going into a lengthy explanation, it's a way to insure a minimum basic income for people earning below a certain level, without removing too much of the incentive to work. This system would require we eliminate most, if not all, social welfare programs. It also relies on a removal of minimum wage and other labor price controls. By providing a basic income, it gives workers a platform to negotiate from. In theory, this would cause wages to rise as people would not be compelled to accept the only pay rate offered. It would provide a little breathing room for entrepreneurs. One of the biggest constraints for the person with a good idea is the ability to act on it. You got to eat. You got to keep the lights on. You got to have a cushion if you fail. This holds for students as well. How much of a student loan goes to room and board? How much to daily living costs? I like the NIT because of its flexibility. What major challenges and problems did you face on your job? How did you handle them?

Being in a situation where I saw financial waste, faulty hiring practices and the need for a total program overhaul. I could make suggestions, but there were other people in power who felt comfortable with the "old way" of doing business.Ultimately the company folded, due to major financial mismanagement. I don't have a great solution or ending to that experience. If anything, it taught me that we as people have to make difficult decisions in the workplace. Sometimes you know things are wrong, but you need to have a job to survive. In the end, you have to have faith and ask for guidance in what you need to do, and trust in the answer.
