Explanation:
Each individual system works in conjunction with other systems to improve our chances of survival by maintaining a stable internal body environment. The primary reproductive organs, or gonads, consist of the ovaries and testes. These organs are responsible for producing the egg and sperm cells gametes), and hormones. Below are the parts and definitions of each reproductive system for males and females.
Urinary bladder - a temporary storage reservoir for urine.
Urethra - The tube through which urine leaves the body. It empties urine from the bladder.
Penis - the male organ used for urination and sexual intercourse.
Scrotum - The bag of skin that holds and helps to protect the testicles.
Erectile Tissue - the tissue in the body with numerous vascular spaces, or cavernous tissue, that may become engorged with blood.
Seminal Vesicle - a pair of glands that also include the prostate gland and the bulbourethral glands.
Prostate gland - produces the fluid that nourishes and transports sperm.
Vas Deferens - is an excretory duct of the testicles.
Testicles or testes - One of two egg-shaped glands inside the scrotum that produce sperm and male hormones.
Ovary - One of a pair of female glands in which the eggs form and the female hormones estrogen and progesterone are made.
Cervix - The lower, narrow end of the uterus that forms a canal between the uterus and vagina.
Bladder - Relaxs and expands to store urine, and contract and flatten to empty urine through the urethra.
Urethra - The tube through which urine leaves the body. It empties urine from the bladder.
Fallopian Tube - Either of a pair of tubes along which eggs travel from the ovaries to the uterus.
Infundibulum - Catches and channels the released eggs; it is the wide distal (outermost) portion of each fallopian tube.
Uterus - The hollow, pear-shaped organ in a woman's pelvis. The uterus is where a fetus (unborn baby) develops and grows. Also called the womb.
Vagina - The lining of the uterus is shed during menstruation, where penetration can occur during sex and where a baby descends during childbirth.
