Just as you need to put gas in your car's engine and air in your tires so that your car can move, you need to put food and oxygen into your body so that it runs. Every human, as well as every other living organism, needs to "fill their tanks". Within the organism's body, food is broken down into nutrients. Nutrients are converted to energy, which sustains life.
