I will reccomend them to use a pulley; it is a wheel that carries a flexible rope, cord, cable, chain, or belt on its rim. One or more independently rotating pulleys can be used to gain mechanical advantage, especially for lifting weights that's why it is perfect for carrying their construction materials to the second floor of the house. They just need a rope, a wheel, a solid wood and a bucket to store their construction materials on.
