Today is the death anniversary of Teodora Alonzo, mother, teacher, and protector of the Rizal family. When Jose Rizal was only 11 years old, he witnessed the extraordinary bravery of his mother: The Spaniards arrested Doña Teodora and made her walk 50 kilometers around Laguna.
