Because if you eat or drink while using the computer, not only food crumbs may get into the monitor, keyboard, and mouse, you may accidentally spill your drink on the computer (look at the sample picture) which will damage the keyboard, and mouse. Even if you do not drink and only eat while using the computer, the food crumbs will eventually spoil and smell bad (this may also grow biohazards like mold). not only that, some animals may get attracted to the crumbs. A good example are ants.
So, always make sure to not eat while using the computer, and tell others so they wont do the same.
