Lever - Levers can be used to exert a large force over a small distance at one end by exerting only a small force(effort) over a greater distance at the other. Examples are scissors, see-saws, bottle-openers, etc.
Wheel and axle -The Wheel and axle area is a basic machine component for amplifying force. It was probably used for raising weights or water buckets from wells. Its principle of operation is demonstrated by the large and small gears attached to the same shaft. Examples are doorknob, screwdriver, egg beater, etc.
Screw - Screws are widely used in threaded fasteners to hold objects together and in devices such as screw tops for containers, vises, screw jacks, and screw presses. Other mechanisms that use the same principle, also called screws, don't necessarily have a shaft or threads.
