Because violence is not the key to lecturing people, nonviolence is a tool of the powerful. Being violent shows you are weak, and no one will listen to you because they are afraid. Stop the violence and tell them nicely instead of hurting them, and they'll understand; if you hurt your child, they'll be frightened.
