These different perspectives are all relevant because I will be arguing why Weber and Marx most insightfully understand religion via the concepts of symbolic action and reification respectively.
Durkheim and Marx's concepts of religion both focus on a systematic approach to understanding the social construction of religious beliefs. Although both sociologists were primarily interested in how religion impacts the individual, they came to disparate conclusions.
